Brand Introduction
Hamilton was established in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The brand gained renown for its first pocket watch, the Broadway Limited, which was designed to provide accurate timekeeping for railroads. In 1914, Hamilton was chosen as a supplier for the United States Air Force, and by 1919, it was providing timekeeping services for ski events and the United States Postal Service. Throughout the 1930s, it became the official watch for many airlines. During World War II in 1947, Hamilton paused its civilian watch production and manufactured nearly one million military watches. In 1970, it introduced the world's first digital watch, the Pulsar, and in 1977 was acquired by the SSIH Group (Omega-Tissot). By 1983, it became part of SMH and is now a brand under the Swatch Group.
