Sony speaker system 3 way (2 units 1 set) SS-CS5

Beskrivning
Sony's speakers have always been designed with the concept of ``sound that resonates with the heart,'' and are speakers that convey the music's dynamism and atmosphere in a way that honestly conveys the thoughts of the music creator to the listener. Although the CS series is an entry-class speaker system, it is a high-quality speaker system that has been carefully selected down to the smallest detail in order to achieve ``sound that touches the heart.''
■A unique unit that even reproduces the passion contained in the work. ・Equipped with a "wide directional super tweeter" that realizes a vast sound stage Equipped with Sony's unique "wide directional super tweeter". The natural spread of sound brought about by the wide directional characteristics allows for expressive and lively music reproduction, creating an accurate and expansive sound stage that reproduces the position and depth of each instrument. In addition, the narrow sweet spot when playing high-resolution sound sources is greatly expanded by wide directivity. The lack of sound pressure, which is a weak point of small tweeters, has been improved by thoroughly strengthening the magnetic circuit and using CCAW (copper-plated aluminum) wire for the voice coil to reduce weight. A lightweight vibration system and powerful driving force have achieved delicate expressive power that perfectly captures the feeling of air.
・25mm soft dome tweeter that delivers honest and unobtrusive high frequencies The diaphragm of the tweeter unit, which determines the tone of musical instruments and vocals, is made of polyester fiber that provides a smooth and smooth sound quality. By carefully adjusting the coating on the diaphragm and the sound absorption of the back cavity, we suppress unnecessary coloration and reproduce a tone that combines honest sound quality with solid core strength.
・130mm woofer unit that uses Sony's proprietary "MRC (foamed mica)" material The woofer unit, which delivers a natural and smooth midrange and powerful, clear bass, uses Sony's proprietary "MRC (foamed mica)" material for the diaphragm. In order to create a unit that is both smooth and strong, we used two-layer papermaking technology that combines different types of MRC for the base material and surface layer of the diaphragm. For the base material, we use first-generation MRC, which has a high foaming ratio and is lightweight and highly rigid, for a strong bass sound with a good start, and second-generation MRC, which has a low foaming ratio and has a supple and straightforward sound quality, is used for the surface layer material that determines the sound quality in the vocal range. It combines tight and powerful bass with energetic and passionate vocal reproduction.
■High-quality design that brings out the potential of "high resolution audio" ・Thorough timing control by optimizing unit placement In high-quality music playback such as "high-resolution audio," adjusting the timing of the sounds emitted from each unit is an important element of sound creation that greatly affects timbre, sound image localization, and scale reproduction. A "wide-directional super tweeter" is used, and in order to maximize its effectiveness, the distance and depth from the main tweeter are adjusted in millimeter units, and thorough positioning is achieved by mounting it on the faceplate. In addition, the opening shape of each tweeter was repeatedly prototyped and listened to to optimize both sound quality and characteristics. Furthermore, by carefully adjusting the positional relationship of all units, including the woofer, and adjusting the phase using a high-quality crossover network, the rise of the sound is aligned and high-speed sound is achieved.
・Eliminates unnecessary noise and creates a clear sound stage with no muddiness When playing high-quality music such as "high-resolution audio," eliminating unnecessary noise generated from cabinets and baffles is extremely important in expressing a high-quality, expansive soundstage. By making the faceplate convex, the area around the baffle of each tweeter unit is reduced, reducing reflections on the baffle surface, and the taper on the end face suppresses diffraction that occurs at the edge of the cabinet. In addition, by dividing cabinet vibration into "sound absorption" and "vibration suppression" measures, unnecessary noise is effectively suppressed and a clear sound stage without muddiness is reproduced.
■Uses high-quality audio parts that go beyond what is common knowledge for entry-class products. In order to achieve true musical expression without damaging the music signal input from the amplifier, the SS-CS5 uses high-quality audio parts even though it is an entry class. The crossover network elements include an air core for the tweeter coil, a silicon steel plate core for the woofer, and the thickest possible winding. All capacitors are film capacitors, minimizing the loss of musical information that tends to be lost with low-quality elements, and expressing even energetic yet delicate emotional changes. The speaker terminal uses a brass terminal. The terminal mount is designed to minimize cabinet openings to reduce vibration. The large terminal makes it easy to connect cables and is compatible with Y plugs and banana plugs. By machining the inner shaft of the brass terminal, we created a structure that allows direct connector connection, reducing contact resistance and minimizing information loss to the crossover network.
■High-quality enclosure design that delivers heart-pounding vocals Controlling the resonance of the enclosure and eliminating unnecessary noise is an important element in achieving a wide sound stage, precise sound localization, and high-quality vocal range reproduction. In SS-CS5, in order to control the resonance of the enclosure, we categorized it into two categories: ``sound absorption,'' which suppresses the back pressure of the unit and standing waves generated inside the enclosure, and ``vibration suppression,'' which suppresses the vibrations of the enclosure itself, and took measures using different approaches for each. The type and position of the sound-absorbing material, as well as the method of reinforcing, are optimally adjusted by repeatedly making and listening to prototypes. Furthermore, in order to create a strong cabinet that will not succumb to the back pressure generated by the unit, we used MDF material with sufficient thickness to ensure basic strength, and after repeated careful studies and listening tests, we reinforced the enclosure in 13 locations to increase the rigidity of the enclosure. This effectively suppresses unnecessary vibrations, creating a clear and tight bass sound with a good start.
